When you are not a graphic designer (and most of us aren’t!) stamps are a great way to use someone else’s design talents to your benefit. Every now and then I see stamps that I think would be wonderful to be used on a wedding invitation and this honey bee enveloped in a delicate wreath was no exception!
The invitation jacket is embossed in white with the honey bee design on Sahara Sand card stock. For the most part, heat embossing is the same process as thermography printing so if you like the look and feel of that particular style of printing then you should consider heat embossing as an option. All you would need to create this look is a Heat Tool, a VersaMark pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
The layered invitation on the inside features Pink Pirouette and Whisper White Card Stocks with Always Artichoke Seam Binding Ribbon knotted in the center to symbolize the unification of two individuals through marriage. Seam binding ribbon is delicate and silky, perfect for creating a knot such as this one without all of the bulkiness of other ribbons like satin or grosgrain.
A simple pocket was added to the inside of this invitation to keep the response card and envelope in place. To create a simple pocket such as this one – measure the width of your envelope (or largest insert card) and add 1/8″ to the left and right sides. For example, our envelope measured 3-5/8″ across so the front of this pocket is 3-7/8″ across. I added 1/2″ of paper beyond this measurement on each side and the bottom. These “flaps” were folded back and attached to the inside of the jacket with Sticky Strip. Be sure to use very strong adhesive for pockets – I would recommend Sticky Strip.
Repetition of a single design is one way to tie all of your invitation pieces together – so I repeated the bee design on the envelope address wrap.
